Description:

Reporting to the Regional Manager; the successful candidate will be accountable for installing and maintaining wireless communication systems for Comtech's telecom and industrial customers.

Accountabilities:

Installation and servicing of wired and wireless equipment in field and shop.
Climb towers for installation and servicing of equipment.
Site surveys, job scoping, and preliminary system designs.
Equipment configurations/integration.
Technical support.
Be available for on-call rotation and occasional out of town work.
Communicate and update manager on project/job status.

Qualifications:

Electronic technician or technologist diploma.
Fall Protection and Tower Rescue Certified an asset.
H2S, First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, SCSA training an asset.
Experience with Cellular, microwave, VHF, SCADA, and LAN wiring.
Interest in continuing career development.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, oral, and written communication and project/time management skills.

Technical Support Level II

Category:

Description:

As part of the Operations Centre Technical Support team, reporting to the Network Operations Manager,you will utilize you Level II Technical / Network Support expertise to follow processes, troubleshoot network related matters and solve end user issues assigned by the ticketing system or from support calls. You should have a strong technical understanding of networking, applications, systems administration and Cisco with wireless and satellite knowledge being an asset.

Responsibilities:

Act on ticketing system requests as well as from telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner.
Troubleshoot network issues and escalate problems if required.
Perform system upgrades / updates in a timely manner.
Manage and maintain at the desktop and server level (Exchange, Active Directory, BES, Sharepoint, VMWare).
Radio / RF monitoring and troubleshooting.
May have to travel to field locations on occasion to perform maintenance and resolve issues.
The ability to relate to various types of people, and explain technical items in non-technical, understandable terms are an important part of this position.
Enjoy shift work and take on-call responsibilities.

Position Requirements



Formal Education & Certification

College diploma or university degree in the field of computer technology and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
Microsoft certifications.
Cisco certification (CCNA).
ITIL certification a plus.

Knowledge and Experience

Technical Operations Service experience mandatory.
Unix system administration experience.
Wireless / RF experience.
Clear Communication & Phone Skills.
Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
SNMP / Solarwinds experience a plus.
